Program Administrator
Reflection and Artifacts
During my first semester at Georgia Southern, I completed FRIT 7331's Strategic Management Plan. This assignment helped me to realize some of the large behind the scenes work required to be a Media Specialist. This Key Assessment opened my eyes as to all the behind the scenes planning Media Specialist practice actually involves.
This Strategic Management Plan Key Assessment was only the beginning of the Program Administrator role. During my FRIT 7765 Clinical Practicum, I completed several tasks and a checklist item that required me to put my Program Administrator hat on. I was particularly proud of the work I did when completing the Grant Application (Task 4), Program Evaluation Rubric/Memo (Task 5), and Activities Report Infographic (Checklist Item 5). One of the main goals a Media Specialist undertakes should be effective promotion of their school's Media Center. These activities provided me the opportunity to create authentic Real World work products that I can build upon when I am a Media Specialist.

I really appreciate having to complete a Grant Application. Jefferson is fortunately blessed with a wealth of money and resources. Therefore, it was a bit difficult finding a grant that the district/High School would actually qualify for. Once I researched several grants and found the appropriate one to apply for, this process was exciting. I genuinely loved planning this out and writing to complete the grant application. I look forward to the opportunity to advocate for my students and will apply for grant funding in the future.
The Program Evaluation Rubric and Memo, once I got into the swing of things, was fairly easy to complete. Completing this evaluation with the assistance of Mrs. Whitworth was eye opening. The Jefferson High School Media Center program is a well run program that could be a State and even National role model with just a few minor tweaks. I am hopeful that these tweaks can be implemented in the future in order for the Media Center to become an Exemplary Role Model according to the Serritella Rubric.
As someone who considers herself to be gifted with reading and listening, but not visually, I have previously felt incredibly frustrated and challenged by the prospect of completing Infographics. This is an alternative format of sharing information that I have never really felt qualified to create. I suppose I have simply felt intimidated by the prospect of creating and sharing this information because there are several other Media Specialists who do such a wonderful job of it, that I will have no way of ever living up to their standards. However, I am not sure what happened, but I believe that I flourished when I created the Activities Report for FRIT 7765. I am no longer afraid to create/share Infographics and look forward to presenting this type of report to my administration when I am a Media Specialist.
I wholeheartedly enjoyed learning how that Media Specialists are program administrators. I look forward to becoming an effective administrator when I am fortunate enough to become a Media Specialist in the future.
